“Why does this keep happening to me?”……. Who hasn’t asked that question at one point or another in their lives? And, it’s a darn frustrating question if we never look at the evolution of the “this”.
My life surely has had its repetitive cycles; some good and some not so good. Historically about abundance and crappy bosses, and thankfully, both are now in the good column of repetitiveness…. and not by chance.
Forrest Gump believed that life is like a box of chocolates, and it surely can be. I believe that a life lived well is like a giant switchback, zig-zagging its way higher and higher . . . forever progressing upward . . . the core of our being forever evolving. We aren’t meant to shoot straight away up to the top. It’s too dangerous and we’d miss so much while expending unnecessary energy.
Solid reasoning is behind the switchback that is analogous to life’s journey. Doing a 180° switchback turn, figuratively (and literally!) leads to change in direction and evolutionary altitude. It may appear, as you reach another 180° switchback turn, you’ve been in this spot before . . . the view may look kind of familiar …. yet, you have progressed upward!
That’s the focus to keep; the focus on the upward progress. The next time you sense life’s stories repeating, ask yourself if you handled it just a bit better than before. Were you aware sooner? Did you navigate that 180° switchback with greater clarity and confidence? See, you got “this”!
